Quick answer: Pinterest has no button that resets your home feed. Its help says the feed is picked from the boards you create, the Pins you engage with, the things you search for and the people and boards you follow, so to reset it you change those: clear your Recent searches (click into the search bar, then the clear icon), turn off Activity under Refine your recommendations, and Unfollow what you no longer want. Ads are separate; they follow Use of partner info under Privacy and data. The tool above gives Pinterest's steps for whatever you want gone, on your device.
What picks the Pins in your Pinterest home feed
Pinterest's help (Explore the home feed) names the signals in one sentence: Your Home feed is a feed of Pins that have been picked for you based on the boards you create, Pins you engage with, and things you search for on Pinterest.
The people you follow are the rest of it: Browse your Home feed to discover Pins from people and boards you follow. You'll also find recommendations for Pins you might love and new people or brands to follow inspired by your recent activity.
Its settings page puts it shorter still (Refine your recommendations): Pinterest recommends Pins to you based on your saves, searches, and browsing activity.
How to reset your Pinterest feed
Pinterest's help doesn't name a reset button, so a reset is three settings, one for each thing it says picks your Pins:
- What you searched:
Remove items you've recently searched from your search history.
(Clear recent search history) - What you engaged with:
Activity: Turn off recommendations based on Pins you have engaged with.
- Who you follow:
You can remove followers and unfollow people. If you want to prevent someone from following or interacting with you on Pinterest, you can also block them.
(Manage your following and followers)
The boards you create are the fourth signal, and Pinterest's help names no setting for them. A board you no longer want can be archived or deleted (the Delete, Archive or Merge a Board tool has Pinterest's steps). Pinterest does not say whether that changes the feed.
How to clear your Pinterest search history
Pinterest's help gives one way, the clear icon beside your recent searches (Clear recent search history): Remove items you've recently searched from your search history.
On the web
- Click into the search bar at the top of Pinterest
- Click the clear icon next to Recent searches
On Android
- Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your screen
- Tap the search bar
- Tap the clear icon next to any recent searches you'd like to clear
On iPhone and iPad
- Tap the search icon at the bottom of your screen
- Tap the search bar
- Tap the clear icon next to any recent searches you'd like to clear
That is all Pinterest's help says about deleting searches. It does not say whether clearing them on one device clears them on your others, so clear them on each one you use. Your searches are also one of the things Pinterest says picks your home feed, which makes clearing them the first step of a reset; the tool above has these steps for your device under Things I searched.
In the EU there is one more setting, under Privacy and data (Manage your privacy and data settings): If you're located in the EU, you can choose whether Pinterest can use certain data to personalize the ideas you see. This data includes things like Pins you've clicked on before, demographic information, and your Pinterest search history. To manage this setting, find Inferred signals about you, then check or uncheck the box or toggle the switch.
How to see Pins you recently viewed on Pinterest
Pinterest's help has no viewing history and no "recently viewed" page. The one place it names the Pins you have looked at is the Activity tab of Refine your recommendations (Refine your recommendations), and the web and the apps describe that tab in different words. In the Android and iPhone apps: Activity: Turn off recommendations based on Pins you have looked at.
On the web: Activity: Turn off recommendations based on Pins you have engaged with.
Both describe a switch for your recommendations. Pinterest does not say whether the tab lists the Pins themselves, or for how long. Some guides say the last 30 days, but Pinterest's help gives no period. The tool above opens Pinterest's steps to the tab for your device under Find a Pin I saw.
Two other places are worth a look before you give up. If you saved the Pin, it is on one of your boards. Your recent searches appear when you click or tap into the search bar, so searching the same words again can bring the Pin back; don't clear them while you are still looking. If you remember the picture but not the Pin, the Pinterest Image Search tool has Pinterest's steps to search with the picture itself.
How to see the Pins you liked on Pinterest
A "like" on Pinterest is a reaction: the heart, which you hover over or press and hold to pick one (Reactions). You can react to Pins to share your opinion and give feedback to the person who created that Pin.
Hearting a Pin lets the creator know you like it.
Pinterest's help names no list or page of the Pins you reacted to, and it says why it doesn't need one: Reacting to a Pin shares your thoughts about it, but does not save the Pin. If you want to see the Pin later, make sure to save it to a board.
So the Pins you liked are not waiting anywhere Pinterest's help points to. The ones worth keeping go on a board, and a star makes them easy to find: You can select your favorite Pins within your board by marking them with a star so it’s easy to find them later. Only you and board collaborators will be able to see them.
To view your favorite Pins, log in to your Pinterest account and go to your profile by clicking or tapping your profile photo. Then, open the Pins section and choose Favorites.
(Mark your favorite Pins in your board) Pinterest is careful to keep the two apart: Note: The heart icon reacts to a Pin, but doesn’t favorite it. To favorite a Pin, save it to a board, then select the star-outline icon on the Pin in your board.
The tool above gives the star's steps for your device under Pins I liked, and the Save a Picture from Pinterest tool has Pinterest's steps to save a Pin to a board.
Fewer AI-made Pins
The same settings page has a second tab: AI content: Choose to see fewer GenAI Pins in certain categories in your feed.
Use the Show AI content toggle to reduce AI content in your feed. If you turn this toggle off, all AI topics will be turned off.
The Turn Off AI on Pinterest tool has the rest of Pinterest’s AI settings: “see fewer” on one Pin, the AI training opt-out and the AI modified label.
Why the ads don't change
Turning on or off recommendations won’t affect the ads you see on your home feed. You can limit the information Pinterest uses to pick which ads you see.
That limit is Use of partner info (Personalized ads on Pinterest): To help you see ads you’re more likely to be interested in, Pinterest or a company advertising on Pinterest may use information about your off-Pinterest activity to personalize the ads you see.
Please note that this setting does not apply to information about purchases you initiate on Pinterest.
Ideas from your private boards
Some of what you see comes from boards nobody else can see (Private boards): On your home feed you may see suggestions for Pins based on your private boards. These are only visible to you and can be used for inspiration to find more ideas. You must have at least one private board for these suggested pins to appear.
If you pin for a business
Read Pinterest's sentence the other way round and it lists what your own Pins are matched against: the boards people create, the Pins they engage with, and the things they search for. The searches are the part you can look up before you pin; the Keyword Checker shows a keyword's demand on Pinterest.
