Quick answer: To block someone on Pinterest, open their profile, tap the ellipsis icon under their profile details (top right on a business account), and tap Block twice. They can’t follow you, message you or interact with your Pins, and Pinterest never tells them. To unblock, go to Settings › Social permissions › Blocked accounts, or tap Unblock on their profile. Unfollowing only stops you following them, and reporting sends them to Pinterest for review without hiding them. The tool above gives Pinterest’s steps for each on your device.

What blocking does on Pinterest

From Pinterest’s Block or unblock someone: Block a Pinterest profile to prevent someone from following you, messaging you, or interacting with your Pins. Do they find out? No one will ever receive a notification that you've blocked or unblocked them. They'll only be alerted if they try to follow you or interact with your Pins. What still shows: If you block someone, their Pins will no longer show up in your home feed, but you might still see them in search results and group boards. Pins you’ve already saved from them will stay on your profile.

The button is the ellipsis icon under their profile details (some guides say a flag icon). On a business account it sits at the top right of the profile.

How to unblock someone on Pinterest

You can view the accounts you’ve blocked and make changes in your settings. On the web that is Settings › Social permissions › Blocked accounts › Edit list. In the apps it is Social permissions › Blocked accounts, and on an iPhone or iPad Social permissions and activity. The profile works too: If you want to unblock the account in the future, you'll find the option to Unblock under their profile details. Unblocking is as silent as blocking.

Unfollow or remove a follower

From Manage your following and followers: You can remove followers and unfollow people. If you want to prevent someone from following or interacting with you on Pinterest, you can also block them. Unfollowing happens in your Following list and removing in your Followers list, behind the ellipsis next to their name. Pinterest’s help doesn’t say whether the other person is told. How the counts work: Your follower count is the number of people who follow you or your boards. If a person follows one or more boards you’ve created, it will count as one follow.

Stop someone messaging you

Message settings work by group (Edit your message settings): Groups of people you might have contact with on Pinterest include followers, collaborators, and those you follow. You can select one of the following message settings for each group of people: Inbox, Requests or Don’t deliver. To stop one person, block them. For teens: If you're a teen, you'll have limited options for how you send and receive messages.

Report an account, a comment or a message

From Report something on Pinterest: If you find content that shouldn't be on Pinterest, you can report it for us to review. You’ll still be able to see someone’s account, boards, Pins and comments after you report them. To see less of their content, you can unfollow or block this person. Each report starts from the ellipsis icon: on the profile for an account, under the comment for a comment, at the top of the conversation for a message. One exception: To report a photo comment for Intellectual Property rights, contact us. Include the Pin URL and the username of the person who posted the comment in your message. The How to Contact Pinterest tool has Pinterest’s form for that, and for every other problem.

If it’s harassment

If your interaction with another person rises to the level of bullying or harassment, follow our reporting guidelines. If you’re ever concerned about your safety, contact a law enforcement agency.

FAQ

Does someone know if you block them on Pinterest?
Not from a notification: No one will ever receive a notification that you've blocked or unblocked them. They'll only be alerted if they try to follow you or interact with your Pins.
Can a blocked person still see my Pins?
Pinterest’s help says blocking stops them following you, messaging you and interacting with your Pins. It doesn’t say they can no longer see a public profile. For that, make your profile private; the Pinterest Privacy Checker has Pinterest’s steps.
Where is the list of people I blocked?
In your settings, under Social permissions (Social permissions and activity on an iPhone or iPad), then Blocked accounts.
Does unfollowing someone notify them?
Pinterest’s help doesn’t say. It describes unfollowing and removing a follower without a word about a notification, while it does say blocking sends none.
Will reporting someone hide them from me?
No. Pinterest says: If you find content that shouldn't be on Pinterest, you can report it for us to review. You’ll still be able to see someone’s account, boards, Pins and comments after you report them. To see less of their content, you can unfollow or block this person.
