Note: For Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and other double byte languages, only the first 30 characters will show in people's feeds.

Description

Enter up to 800 characters. Descriptions do not appear when viewing the Pin in the home feed or search feed. Additionally, descriptions do not appear for ads when viewed up close.

Pinterest Business Help: Review ad specs. Checked 17 October 2026.

For every format

  • All uploaded images are converted to standard 8-bit RGB JPEGs before being turned into Pins and ads. Advertisers should upload images in PNG with sRGB formats to avoid any reduction in image quality.
  • Custom color profiles are not supported on Pinterest and may result in slightly different colors on published Pins and ads.
  • Pinterest adds a faint color layer to image Pins in the home feed with white or black backgrounds. This distinguishes the pins from the app background color and helps to highlight links included in the Pin.
  • This feature applies to all organic and paid image Pins and ad types but does not apply to videos.
  • Light mode: A faint black layer (#000000 at 4% opacity) is automatically applied on top of creative.
  • Dark mode: A faint white layer (#FFFFFF at 10% opacity) is automatically applied on top of creative.

Pinterest ad sizes and dimensions

Pinterest gives a pixel size for four formats. For a standard image ad: We recommend using a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 x 1500 pixels. Pins with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in people's feeds. Showcase and Quiz ads ask for the same 1000 x 1500. Idea ads ask for For full-bleed images and videos, or images and videos that extend to take up the entire screen, we recommend using 1080x1920 pixel size (9:16 ratio). Carousel and collections ads give a shape and no size: 1:1 or 2:3. To resize a picture to one of these sizes on your device, use the Pinterest Image Size Checker.

Pinterest video ad specs

A standard width video ad is Standard width video ads are videos that are the same size as a regular Pin. Its file is .MP4, .MOV or .M4V, encoded H.264 or H.265, up to 2GB, between 4 seconds and 15 minutes long, and Pinterest adds: Recommended length for video ads: 6 to 15 seconds. Its shape: Shorter than 1:2 (width:height), taller than 1.91:1. We recommend making your videos square (1:1) or vertical (2:3, 4:5, or 9:16).

A max. width video ad fills the feed’s width on a phone, is paid only, and Max. width videos cannot exceed the height of a 1:1 aspect ratio: square or wider.

Two Pinterest pages disagree on the longest video. The ad specs page gives video ads Minimum 4 seconds, maximum 15 minutes. Pinterest’s “Review Pin specs” page, for an ordinary video Pin, says minimum 4 seconds, maximum 5 minutes (we read it on 4 October 2026). An ad follows the ad page. The Pinterest Video Checker reads a video’s codec from the file and checks it against both pages.

Pinterest carousel ad specs

Carousel ads feature multiple images for people to swipe through. Each card is a .PNG or .JPEG image, 20 MB per image, with 2 to 5 images per carousel, in 1:1 or 2:3. For the sales objective it is 2 to 10 images and video per carousel. This only applies to the sales objective. Those cards are pulled from your catalog, and Dynamic carousels will automatically pull cards from your product groups. Pinterest’s page heads both carousel tables “for non-Sales”; the second one’s own row says it is for the sales objective.

Pinterest shopping ads

From Pinterest’s page, in full: Shopping ads feature one image or video at a time and allow people to purchase products they find on Pinterest. Shopping ads follow the same specs as standard image and video ads. Pick Shopping ads above and the check uses the standard image specs for a picture and the standard width video specs for a video.

Pinterest collection ads

Collections ads appear as one main image above three smaller images, in feeds on mobile devices. The images are .PNG or .JPEG, 10MB each: Must have 1 hero creative. Minimum of 3 secondary creatives recommended. Maximum of 24 secondary creatives. The hero is 1:1 or 2:3, and the secondary images all share one shape, 1:1 or 2:3; Pinterest recommends 1:1 for them. A video hero follows the video ad rules: up to 2GB, 4 seconds to 15 minutes.

Max width collections ads put the hero across the full width of the phone’s feed: Must have 1 hero creative. Minimum of 4 secondary pins recommended. Their video hero is 1:1 or 16:9.

Pinterest idea ads

Idea ads appear as a set of multiple videos, images, lists and custom text in a single Pin. You can promote an organic Pin as an Idea ad in countries where ads are available. They take Image: .BMP, .JPEG, .PNG, .TIFF, .WEBP, and Video: .MP4, .M4V, and .MOV files are available on iOS and Android only. A video is at most 5 minutes. Its title is up to 100 characters, the text on the page up to 250.

Three size figures. The same table says 1 GB recommended, then Android and iOS: 2GB max and Web: 100MB max. The check above passes a file under 100MB anywhere, and between 100MB and 2GB marks it for the apps only.

Two safe zones. For Idea ads Pinterest’s page gives Top 270 px, Left 65 px, Right 195 px and Bottom 440 px. Its “Review Pin specs” page gives a video Pin the same top, left and right, and 790 px at the bottom (read on 4 October 2026). Keep text clear of the larger one.

Pinterest showcase ads

A Showcase ad is a multi-layered ad format featuring multiple cards. Within each swipeable card, advertisers can add up to three features with outbound links to more content, products and more. It is paid only: a title Pin and Card: Up to four cards in addition to primary title Pin. The title Pin and cards are 2:3 and the features 1:1, up to 32MB, with videos between 3 and 60 seconds. Text stays inside 342 x 430 pixels: Avoid placing any text or important information in the bottom 80px of the Showcase card since it will be covered. Safe zones do not apply to features.

Pinterest quiz ads

A Quiz ad is an ad format with multiple choice questions and answers. Within each quiz result, advertisers can add outbound links to more content, products and more. It is paid only: Up to three results Pins with one title Pin. Every Pin is 2:3, up to 32MB, with a 342 x 376 pixel safe zone. Questions and answers: Questions can be up to 96 characters, including spaces. Answers can be up to 48 characters, including spaces.

Titles and descriptions: Pinterest’s character counts for ads

Most formats share one rule for the title: Enter up to 100 characters. Depending on the device, the first 40 characters may show in people's feeds. When entered, titles will appear in the home feed or search feed. If a title is not entered and no rich Pin title exists, nothing will show in its place. And: Note: For Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and other double byte languages, only the first 30 characters will show in people's feeds. A description takes up to 800 characters, and Descriptions are used by our algorithm to determine relevance for delivery. We recommend entering a description to help get your Pin or ad in front of the right audience. Count yours with the Pin Title Checker.

Colours and backgrounds

All uploaded images are converted to standard 8-bit RGB JPEGs before being turned into Pins and ads. Advertisers should upload images in PNG with sRGB formats to avoid any reduction in image quality. Custom color profiles are not supported on Pinterest and may result in slightly different colors on published Pins and ads. On a white or black background Pinterest adds a faint layer in the home feed, and This feature applies to all organic and paid image Pins and ad types but does not apply to videos.
