Behind this answer
- A result opens Pinterest’s own page, which asked us to log in for searches, boards and Pins. Google Images and Bing Images show the picture larger in their own preview first.
- Search the words a Pin would use, such as boho bedroom ideas or a recipe’s name. A private profile or a secret board never shows.
Search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo may show your profile or boards in their search results. If you don't want to appear in search results, you can edit your settings to turn on search privacy.

Quick answer: You can open Pinterest’s homepage and a person’s profile without an account. In our own test on 17 October 2026, a search for ideas, a board and a single Pin were covered by a log-in box, on a computer and on an iPhone. To search Pinterest without logging in, search Google or Bing for your words with site:pinterest.com in front; Google Images and Bing Images show the pictures in their own preview. Following, saving and boards need an account. Pinterest’s help centre has no article on using it without one, and its Terms of Service cover its website whether you have an account or not.
Can you use Pinterest without an account?
Partly. Pinterest’s help centre has no article on browsing without an account, so here is what we saw. On 17 October 2026 we opened pinterest.com in Safari’s engine on a computer screen and an iPhone screen, from a US address, never logged in, with a fresh browser for each page. The homepage opened as a sign-up page with the season’s ideas. Pinterest’s own profile, pinterest.com/pinterest, opened with its boards and kept loading more as we scrolled. A people search opened on the computer as a list of profiles, but on the iPhone a full-screen sign-up sheet covered it. A search for ideas, a board, a single Pin and Today’s ideas were all covered. On the computer it was a “Welcome to Pinterest” log-in box that pressing Escape or clicking outside it did not close. On the iPhone it was a sheet with Get Pinterest app, Continue with email and Continue with Google. The table in the tool above has every page. Pinterest changes what logged-out visitors see, so you may see more or less where you are.
How to search Pinterest without logging in
Use a search engine. Pinterest’s own help says search engines show its pages: Search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo may show your profile or boards in their search results. If you don't want to appear in search results, you can edit your settings to turn on search privacy.
Type your words in the box above and it opens four searches of pinterest.com only: Google, Google Images, Bing and Bing Images. Each puts site:pinterest.com in front of your words, which tells the search engine to show results from that one website. You can type the same into any search engine yourself, for example site:pinterest.com boho bedroom ideas. Google Images and Bing Images show each picture larger in their own preview, without opening Pinterest. Opening a result takes you to Pinterest’s own page, and in our test that page asked us to log in.
Only public pages show up this way: Private profiles won't appear in search results on Pinterest or in search engines, but you can invite people you know to follow you.
So a private profile and its Pins never appear in a search engine.
Can you view a Pinterest board or a Pin without an account?
A profile, yes, in our test: it showed the covers of its boards and how many Pins each holds. Opening one of those boards, or a single Pin, brought up the log-in box on the computer and the sign-up sheet on the iPhone. Behind the log-in box, the Pin’s own picture did not show at all. If someone sent you a Pin, search its words (its title, or what it shows) in Google Images or Bing Images with the box above, and you may see the picture in the search engine’s preview. To look for a picture itself on Pinterest, the Pinterest Image Search tool has Pinterest’s own steps.
Why does Pinterest keep asking me to log in?
Pinterest’s help centre doesn’t say. The box itself comes nearest to a reason: on the computer it read “Welcome to Pinterest” and “Log in to discover more ideas just for you”, with Log in, Continue with Google and Continue with QR code. Pinterest’s notice for people without an account describes Pins as something users save: Pins are visual bookmarks that people use to save content they love on Pinterest. Users can search for Pins, save the ones they like and click on a Pin to learn more.
If you have an account and still can’t get in, the Can’t Log In to Pinterest tool has Pinterest’s steps for each problem. We name and link no script, extension or trick to get past the log-in box, because Pinterest’s Terms forbid getting at its content in unauthorized ways (below).
Is it allowed to browse Pinterest without an account?
Pinterest’s Terms of Service don’t only cover account holders. They start: These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of any website, app, service, technology, API, widget, platform, channel or any other products or features owned, operated, branded or offered by Pinterest (“Pinterest” or the “Service”), except where we expressly state that separate terms (and not these) apply.
And: You may use Pinterest only if you follow these Terms and all applicable laws.
So browsing without an account is under the same Terms. One of them is why this page names no way past the log-in box: In using Pinterest, you agree not to scrape, collect, search, copy or otherwise access data or content from Pinterest in unauthorized ways, such as by using automated means (without our express prior permission), or access or attempt to access data you do not have permission to access.
The Terms also set an age: You cannot use Pinterest if you're under 13 (or older in some countries).
The Pinterest for Teens page has Pinterest’s rules for teen accounts. Pinterest’s Terms change on 12 November 2026, and the four sentences quoted here are the same in the new version. This is what Pinterest’s Terms say, not legal advice.
What Pinterest knows when you visit without an account
Pinterest has a notice for people without an account, its Non-User Notice. About visiting: Where a Non-User visits the website, we also process information through cookies and similar technologies as explained in our Cookie Policy.
So Pinterest’s cookies still apply when you browse logged out. Searching through Google or Bing instead means that search engine sees your words, under its own privacy rules. To see what a stranger can see of your own Pinterest, the Pinterest Privacy Checker has Pinterest’s settings.
Making a Pinterest account
Saving a Pin puts it on one of your boards, and boards belong to an account. In our test, pressing Follow on a profile opened Pinterest’s sign-up box, which asked for an email, a password and a birthday on the computer. From Pinterest’s Get a Pinterest account: If you’ve never used Pinterest before, you can create a new personal account.
On a phone: Download the Pinterest app onto your device to create a Pinterest account.
Choose Save or follow in the tool above for Pinterest’s steps on the web, Android and iPhone. If you sell or blog, the Pinterest Business Account page has Pinterest’s words on the other kind of account.
