Quick answer: To stop Pinterest emails, open Settings › Notifications, open How you get notifications and turn Email off (in the app, then tap Turn off all). Or scroll to the bottom of any Pinterest email and click Unsubscribe. Pinterest says It may take a day or two for your settings to update. If you aren't seeing the changes after a few days or if you're getting emails for an account you didn't create, let us know. The tool above gives Pinterest’s steps on your device, and the same settings turn off phone and in-app notifications one category at a time.

How to stop getting emails from Pinterest

Pinterest’s Stop getting emails from Pinterest article gives two ways: If you want to stop receiving emails from us, you can unsubscribe from your settings or from any Pinterest email. In your settings it is one switch. On a computer: the more-options icon at the bottom left, Settings, Notifications, the chevron next to How you get notifications, the Email toggle, then Save. In the app, the last tap is Turn off all. Pick “Every Pinterest email” above for the steps on your device.

How to unsubscribe from Pinterest emails

From inside an email, the steps are the same everywhere: open an email from Pinterest and scroll to the bottom, click Unsubscribe to stop that type of email, then Confirm. To stop them all from there, Pinterest says to deselect every type of email you’re receiving. Unsubscribing from one email stops that kind of email only, so the settings switch is the quicker way to stop them all.

Pinterest email notifications: the kinds you can switch off one by one

Pinterest’s Edit notification settings article lists the emails under five headings: Pins you saved (Saves), Boards, searches and topics (Boards for you, Topics for you, Recommended searches), Pin picks (Pins inspired by your recent activity, Pins picked for you, Popular pins), Social (Followers, Group board updates, Messages, People who share your interests) and Others (Pinterest announcements and updates, Feedback and surveys). Each has its own Email switch, so you can keep messages from people and stop the recommendations. Pick “One kind of email” or “Choose which ones” above.

Pinterest notifications: the three ways they reach you

Pinterest sends you notifications when you have new updates or messages. You receive notifications in three different ways: On Pinterest: These notifications appear on the Pinterest app or when you use Pinterest on your desktop. By email: These notifications are sent to you via email. By push notifications: These notifications appear on your phone. In the settings every category has the same three switches: Push, Email and In-app. Pinterest also says We do our best to only send you notifications we think you'll want to read. You can change your preferences in your settings or unsubscribe from within an email.

How to turn off Pinterest notifications on your phone

Push notifications are the phone ones, and Pinterest’s help gives two places to turn them off. Inside Pinterest, open the notification settings (the steps above), tap a category and switch off Push; Pinterest says Your changes will save automatically. On an iPhone or iPad, the phone’s own switch turns off every Pinterest push at once: Pinterest’s iOS steps say to tap Open Settings, then Notifications, then the Allow Notifications switch. For Android, Pinterest’s help names only the Push switches inside its settings.

Turn off Pinterest notifications for one thing only

Pinterest’s push list is longer than its email list. Under Pins you saved it has Comments, Mentions, Saves and Tries; under Social it has Followers, Group boards updates, Invitations, Messages and People who share your interests; the rest match the emails, plus Other updates. Change your notification settings to adjust how often you hear about what's happening on Pinterest. Who can mention you is a different setting: To change the ability for someone on Pinterest to mention you in a comment or a Pin, go to your Privacy and data settings. That page is covered in the Pinterest Privacy Checker.

Pinterest message notifications

Messages sit under Social in both the email and the push lists, so you can turn off the email for a new message and keep the phone notification, or the other way round. Who can send you messages at all is a separate setting. The Block Someone on Pinterest tool has Pinterest’s message settings, and Delete Pinterest Messages covers clearing a conversation.

Emails for a Pinterest account you didn’t create

Pinterest has an article for this, Remove your email from someone else's account: If you receive an email about a Pinterest account that you did not create, you can remove your email address from that account. Open the email, click Unsubscribe at the bottom, then Didn't sign up for Pinterest? Let us know, then Remove my email address. After you unsubscribe, you might still receive an email or two as it takes a few days for our email system to update. If it is your own account and you want to leave, the Delete Your Pinterest Account tool has Pinterest’s steps.

Not getting Pinterest emails any more?

The opposite problem has its own article, Troubleshoot issues receiving emails from Pinterest: If you're not receiving emails from Pinterest, check your spam or junk folder. We stop sending you emails if you mark an email you receive from us as spam, or if the emails we send to you are bouncing. Then Make sure you're checking the email address connected to your Pinterest account. If you need a hint, follow the steps to find your account email. If those are fine, turn the Email switches back on in your notification settings. For trouble signing in, the Can’t Log In to Pinterest? tool has Pinterest’s steps.

Is that email really from Pinterest?

If you get an email from Pinterest, you can confirm if we've sent it by checking the email address you've received it from. We will always send emails from email addresses that end with one of the following domain: @pinterest.com Its examples are @info.pinterest.com and @account.pinterest.com. An email from any other address is not one Pinterest says it sends.

Two paths to the same settings

Pinterest’s two articles disagree on how to reach Notifications in the apps. Stop getting emails from Pinterest goes from your profile picture straight to Notifications on Android, and through the more-options icon at the top right on an iPhone or iPad. Edit notification settings goes through the more-options icon on Android, and through your profile picture again, at the top left, on an iPhone or iPad. Both are shown in the tool, each under its own article; follow whichever your screen shows. On a business account, Pinterest says the settings are behind the ellipsis icon at the top right of your profile.
