Quick answer: there is no single best time to post on Pinterest. It depends on the niche, and on when that niche's pinners and readers are around. Pick your niche above. The tool compares when the niche's most-saved pins were published with when all its pins went up, over the last 12 months of pins PinPinterest measured, and shows the days and hours where the most-saved ones turn up more often than their share. In Home & Decor, for example, pins published between 6 and 9 pm US Eastern were 1.26 times as common among the most-saved as among all pins, and Sunday 1.11 times (measured September 2026).

How to read it

The grid has the days down the side and the hours across, in 3-hour blocks, in the time zone you pick. A colored cell is a time when the niche's 3,000 most-saved pins were published more often than its pins in general. The number is how much more often: 1.30 means 30% more. A grey cell is a time they were published less often. A blank cell is about average. The two lists add the days and the hours up, which makes their numbers steadier than any single cell's. A time counts as more or less likely only when the difference is clear of chance, meaning at least two standard errors from what the niche's usual timing predicts. A slot that is merely busy scores nothing.

Why these numbers are different from the "best time" charts you have seen

Most published best times come from a scheduling company's own customers or from a survey. They answer "when do people post?" or "when did our users get engagement?", across every kind of account at once. These come from pins PinPinterest crawled in your niche. They answer a narrower question: were the pins that people saved most published at particular times, compared with the niche as a whole? That comparison is the point. Without it, the busiest hours would always look best, because most pins go up then.

What it cannot tell you

It is a correlation, not a cause. The most-saved pins were published more often at these times, but that may be because bigger accounts, who get more saves anyway, happen to post then. And your own audience may not keep your niche's hours. Pinterest pins keep being found for months, so timing matters less than what the pin is about and how well it answers a search. Use the result as a starting point for when to publish, then look at your own analytics after a few weeks.

How the numbers are made

  • The pins: every pin PinPinterest crawled in the niche (its sub-niches included) that was published in the last 12 months, by the day and hour Pinterest says it was created.
  • The most-saved: the 3,000 of those with the most saves. Promoted pins are left out.
  • The comparison: for each day, hour block and cell, the most-saved pins' share of that time divided by all pins' share. The binomial z-score decides whether the difference is clear of chance.
  • How fresh: recomputed every week (the date is under the grid).

Before you publish, check the pin's words with the pin title & description checker and whether the keyword is searched with the Pinterest keyword checker. Both matter more than the hour.

FAQ

What is the best time to post on Pinterest?
It depends on the niche. In Home & Decor, for example, the most-saved pins lean toward US evenings (6 pm to midnight Eastern, measured September 2026). Pick your niche above to see its own days and hours in your time zone. Treat the result as a starting point, not a rule.
What is the best day to post on Pinterest?
Look at the "By day" list for your niche. A day is only called more likely when the difference is clear of chance. In many niches no day stands out, and the tool says so rather than inventing one.
Does posting time matter on Pinterest?
Less than on other networks. A pin keeps being found through search for months, so what it is about and how it answers a search matter more. Timing can help the first days, which is what this measures.
Where does the data come from?
From pins PinPinterest crawled: the day and hour each pin was created and how many saves it has. It is recomputed every week. The page shows the sample size and the week.
Can I see this for my own account?
PinPinterest's dashboard has a live version of this heatmap for any niche and for one account's own pins. This free tool is a weekly snapshot of the main niches.
