WordPress plugin

Check the keyword before you write the post

You can write something Pinterest never shows anyone, and nothing tells you until months later. This plugin puts the check inside your editor: how many pins already compete for a term, how many saves they average, and whether it is worth a heading.

Version 1.0.1, 31 KB. It installs like any other plugin — no directory, no account needed to download.

2

Upload it to WordPress

Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → choose the zip → Install Now → Activate.

3

Create a free account here

Open the API tab, press Create key, copy it once. 15 lookups a month, no card.

4

Paste the key and write

Pinterest Keywords → Settings, press Check connection. The editor panel then pre-fills with your post title.

Installed this way, the plugin never updates itself — WordPress can only auto-update plugins listed in its directory. Nothing changes under you; come back here for the current version whenever you want it.

Questions

Yes, and it does not expire. A free account includes 15 keyword lookups every month for as long as you have the account, and every feature of the plugin works on it. Paid plans raise the allowance and add related keywords, top pins and volume history.

It was submitted and turned down, because the data behind it comes from our own analysis of public Pinterest search results and the directory does not accept plugins that depend on a service like that. The plugin itself is unaffected — it is GPL, it is ours, and you can install it exactly as you would any plugin you bought or built. We host the zip here instead.

By hand, on your own schedule. WordPress can only auto-update plugins it finds in the directory, so this one will never update itself — which also means it will never change under you without warning. Come back to this page, download the current zip and upload it over the old one; your settings and your API key are kept. We will email you about anything that matters.

Use the same judgement you would for any zip: it is the same file every time, we publish its SHA-256 on this page so you can verify what you downloaded, and it is served over HTTPS from the site you already have an account with. The plugin has no front-end code and never asks for your Pinterest credentials.

No. This plugin is research only. It reads keyword statistics and publishes nothing anywhere.

No, and you cannot. The plugin never asks for Pinterest credentials. The data comes from our analysis of public Pinterest search results.

No. The plugin has no front-end code at all — it adds nothing to any page a visitor sees, and it only contacts us when an editor asks for a keyword.

You get told so, you get the closest keywords we do have, and the search does not count against your allowance. Our coverage is deeper in some niches than others and we would rather say so than charge you for a blank.

Anyone who can edit posts, by default. Because the lookups come from one allowance shared by the whole site, an administrator can restrict it to authors or to administrators only.
