Free Pinterest keyword checker

Type any phrase and we will tell you what we actually measured for it: how much people save the pins that rank for it, how many pins are competing, and how hard it looks to break in. Three checks are free and need no account.

What the number means

Pinterest does not publish per-keyword search volume, and anybody who tells you they have it is estimating too. What we publish is what we can prove: the saves earned by the pins that actually rank for a phrase, summed across everything we have crawled for it. We call that estimated demand, because that is what it is — a measure of how much people engage with the results, not a count of searches.

Why competition matters more than demand

A phrase with enormous demand and 40,000 competing pins is worse than a quieter one with 600. The checker shows both, plus a difficulty read built from how concentrated the saves are: when a handful of giant pins take most of the engagement, a new pin has nowhere to land. Chase the beatable phrase, not the biggest one.

See the pins that are winning it

Every check comes with the top pins currently ranking for that phrase, so you can look at what is working before you make anything — the format, the crop, the title length, whether video is doing better than a still. That is usually more useful than the numbers above it.

Questions

Three checks are free with no account and no card. After that you create a free account — still no card — and the trial gives you the full report on every keyword rather than the summary. We can afford to leave the first three open because the checker reads keywords we have already crawled, so a lookup costs us nothing.

From public Pinterest search results we crawl and score ourselves. For a keyword, we look at the pins that rank for it and the saves those pins have earned. Nothing here comes from your account, and you do not connect one.

Because Pinterest does not publish per-keyword search volume, so nobody has it — including us. What we measure is engagement with the results, which is a real signal we can stand behind. Calling it search volume would be a nicer-sounding number and a false one.

Then we say so, and we suggest phrases we do have the data for. We never invent a number for a keyword we have not crawled — an estimate with nothing behind it is worse than an honest blank.

The checker answers one phrase at a time. An account adds the things that need to remember you: daily rank tracking on the keywords you choose, competitor accounts watched for you, pin-health alerts, and the full list of pins behind every keyword rather than the top few.
