Find Your Aesthetic: the Quiz

Ten quick questions, then your aesthetic and the Pinterest board to go with it: what to search, what to name it, its colors and a mood board.

Question 1 of 10

Pick a color palette

Quick answer: answer ten quick questions about the colors, rooms, outfits and weekends you are drawn to, and the quiz sorts you into one of 15 aesthetics, with a runner-up. The answer is a ready Pinterest board: the searches that fill it, three board names people search for, a description to paste, its palette and a mood board. How the quiz works

  1. Pick what you are drawn to, one question at a time. There are no wrong answers, and you can go back.
  2. Each answer gives points to the aesthetic it belongs to (three) and to one it sits close to (one). The most points wins, and the next one is your runner-up. A tie goes to the aesthetic you picked outright more often, so the same answers always give the same result.
  3. Your mix shows your top three and their share of your points: most people are a blend, and the runner-up has its own board a tap away.
  4. Copy the link to keep your result or send it to a friend. It opens straight to your board.

The 15 aesthetics in this quiz

  • Cottagecore. Country life made cozy: wildflowers, linen and bread cooling on the windowsill.
  • Dark Academia. Old libraries, tweed and candlelight: studying as a way of life.
  • Light Academia. Sunlit reading, linen and poetry in a garden.
  • Clean Girl. A sleek bun, dewy skin and a tidy, neutral wardrobe.
  • Coastal. Salt air, striped linen and a house full of light.
  • Boho. Layered, earthy and collected along the way.
  • Minimalist. Fewer things, clear surfaces and room to breathe.
  • Y2K. Glossy, glittery and straight out of the year 2000.
  • Grunge. Flannel, band tees and boots that were worn in, not bought that way.
  • Coquette. Bows, lace and ballet pink, as sweet as it gets.
  • Old Money. Quiet, tailored and made to last a lifetime.
  • Fairycore. Moss, mushrooms and a little forest magic.
  • Streetwear. Sneakers first, then everything built around them.
  • Maximalist. More color, more pattern, more of everything you love.
  • Vintage. Thrifted, second-hand and better for its history.

From an aesthetic to a Pinterest board

An aesthetic is easiest to use as a board. Your result gives you each part of one:

  • The searches. Each link opens Pinterest's own search for a phrase people really type, like "dark academia outfits" or "coastal bedroom". Save the pins you like from there. This page never fetches anything from Pinterest itself.
  • The name. Three board names that start with the words people search, each checked by the same rules as our board name generator. A name like "Dark Academia Outfits" is found in search; "my vibe ✨" is not. Our guide to aesthetic board names that still get found explains why.
  • The description. One or two sentences built from the same searches, ready to paste into the board's description. Our guide to board descriptions has more on what to put there.
  • The palette. Five colors, each labeled in the text color that reads on it, with its contrast ratio by the W3C's rule. Open them in the mood board maker with the aesthetic's notes, or in the pin designer as a brand kit, so your pins and your board cover match.

What Pinterest itself says

Every December Pinterest publishes Pinterest Predicts, its forecast of the trends it expects to grow the next year. Where a trend it named sits close to one of these aesthetics, your result quotes Pinterest's own words, with the year and a link. They are Pinterest's trends, not the aesthetic itself: Poetcore is Pinterest's 2026 name for something very like dark academia. The trends quoted are:

A style sorter, not a personality test

This quiz sorts what you like to look at. It says nothing about who you are, and no quiz can be "100% accurate" about taste: most people like two or three of these, and their favorite changes with the season. Take the result as a starting point for a board, and if the runner-up feels more like you, use that one.

The descriptions, palettes and board names are PinPinterest's own. The only words quoted from anyone else are Pinterest's own trend forecasts, named above.
