Quick answer: an affirmation board is a vision board whose words are affirmations: short sentences about the life you are building, written as if they are already true ("I finish what I start"). Pick the parts of your life above and the board fills with one affirmation for each, from our own list of fifty. Add your own lines and photos, then save the board as your phone's lock screen (1080×1920), a pin, a desktop wallpaper or a page to print. It is made in your browser; your photos are never uploaded.
How to make an affirmation board
- Pick the parts of your life that matter this year: career, money, health, home, travel, love, family, learning, creativity or calm. Each gives the board one affirmation; "Other affirmations" swaps them for the next ones on our list.
- Add your own, one per line. Your lines go first, and the board holds six in all.
- Add photos that show the same life: a place, a habit, a feeling. Tap a photo on the board to move, crop or remove it.
- Choose a size and save it. "Phone" is a lock screen you see every time you pick up your phone. "Pin" is the 2:3 shape for Pinterest, and the print sizes are for a wall or a planner.
How we write the affirmations
Every affirmation on our list follows the same rules, and you may want to use them for your own lines:
- Present tense, starting with "I". "I move my body every day because it feels good", not "I will start exercising".
- Something you can do or notice, not something that happens to you. We leave out "manifest" and "the universe will send me": we would rather a board you look at every day hold choices than wishes.
- One idea per line, short enough to read in a glance: none of ours is longer than a single sentence.
- No brands, products or real people. The board is about your life, not anyone's.
Affirmation board or vision board?
A vision board puts short goal words beside photos ("Run a 10k", "Paris in May"). An affirmation board puts whole sentences there, about who you are while you get there. You can make both: the vision board maker runs on the same engine, and the vision board ideas generator shows the words, pictures and affirmations for each part of life.
