Quick answer: to delete a Pin on Pinterest, open it from your profile, click the ⋯ icon, choose Edit Pin, click Delete at the bottom-left and Delete again to confirm. In the app, tap ⋯, the edit option, then Delete this Pin. A Pin you saved from someone else goes the same way, and that is what unsaving is. A Pin in your home feed that someone else made can't be deleted: you can hide it, block the account or report it. The tool above gives Pinterest's steps for your case and your device.

Delete, unsave or hide: what each one does

Pinterest's help (Edit or delete a Pin) draws the line in its first sentence: You can edit and delete the Pins you’ve created and saved on Pinterest. So delete is for a Pin you made, and unsave is the same delete used on a Pin you saved from someone else. Neither can be undone: Once a Pin is deleted, it cannot be recovered.

Hide is for everything else in your home feed. Pinterest says those Pins are picked for you: These are Pins that we recommend based on the people you follow, boards you create, Pins you engage with, and things you search for on Pinterest. And: You can hide individual Pins to help Pinterest understand the type of Pins you want to see. (Explore the home feed)

How to unsave a Pin on Pinterest

Pinterest's help never uses the word "unsave". A Pin you saved sits on one of your boards as your own Pin, and you remove it with the same Delete as a Pin you made: open the board, open the Pin, ⋯, Edit Pin, Delete. The Pin you saved it from is someone else's, so it stays where it is. If you only want it off one board, move it instead: You can move your Pins to other boards or sections on your profile. (Move Pins to another board)

How to delete all your Pins, or a lot of them

Pinterest's help gives its delete steps one Pin at a time. For many at once it offers two things. Organize, on any board, selects many Pins and moves them in one go. And deleting a board takes its Pins with it: When you delete a board, all the Pins on the board are deleted, too. That one can be undone for a week: After you delete a board, you’ll have seven days to restore it in the Recently deleted section. You can only restore your board on desktop or Android. (Archive or delete a board) So to clear a board but keep a few Pins, move the keepers out with Organize first, then delete the board.

Not sure you want them gone? Archive the board instead: Archived boards will not show up in your public profile and you will not be able to save Pins to it. You can unarchive a board at any time.

How to hide Pins on Pinterest

Pinterest's help says you can hide individual Pins, and gives its steps for the settings behind your feed rather than for the hide button: Refine your recommendations (Refine your recommendations). One of them is Activity: Turn off recommendations based on Pins you have engaged with. It does not touch the ads: Turning on or off recommendations won’t affect the ads you see on your home feed.

When the Pins you don't want all come from one account, blocking does more than hiding (Block or unblock someone): If you block someone, their Pins will no longer show up in your home feed, but you might still see them in search results and group boards. Pins you’ve already saved from them will stay on your profile. No one will ever receive a notification that you've blocked or unblocked them.

Can a deleted Pin come back?

No. Pinterest asks you to be sure first: Before deleting a Pin, make sure you no longer want the Pin to appear on your profile or board since deleted Pins cannot be recovered. If what you want is a new picture on the same Pin, deleting is the only way, because Keep in mind, you cannot edit a Pin’s image, video or audio contents once it’s been published. Instead, you’ll need to create a new Pin. A Pin you only want out of sight can go to a private board instead, and come back any time: Only you (and anyone you invite) can see your private boards. (Private boards; the Pinterest Privacy Checker shows who sees what with your settings.)

FAQ

If I delete my Pin, does it disappear from other people's boards?
Pinterest's help does not say. Its delete article talks only about your own profile and board, and other people's saves are their own Pins.
What's the difference between deleting and unsaving a Pin?
The Pin they act on. Deleting is for a Pin you made; unsaving is the same Delete on a Pin you saved from someone else. Pinterest's help covers both in one sentence: You can edit and delete the Pins you’ve created and saved on Pinterest.
Can I delete someone else's Pin?
No. You can hide it from your home feed, block the account, or report it: If you find content that shouldn't be on Pinterest, you can report it for us to review. You’ll still be able to see someone’s account, boards, Pins and comments after you report them.
Can I get back Pins from a board I deleted?
For seven days, yes, by restoring the whole board from Recently deleted, on desktop or Android. A single deleted Pin cannot be recovered.
Does hiding Pins change the ads I see?
Not the recommendation settings: Turning on or off recommendations won’t affect the ads you see on your home feed.
