Deactivate or delete your Pinterest account?
Pinterest's help (Delete or temporarily deactivate your account) opens with the difference: You can delete your account to permanently remove your profile and boards from Pinterest. Or, you can deactivate your account to take a pause from Pinterest and reactivate it later.
Deactivating is a pause: If you deactivate your account, you can take a pause from Pinterest and reactivate your account later. Your profile and boards will not be visible unless you reactivate your account.
Your name stays taken while you are away: Note: After deactivating your account, your email address and username still remain tied to that account. To free up an email address or a username tied to your account, you can change your email or edit your username in your settings.
What happens when you delete your Pinterest account
When you delete your account, your public profile is immediately deactivated. Your account and personal data are permanently deleted in 7 days.
Pinterest asks you to confirm by email: Once you've followed the steps above, check the email address associated with your Pinterest account to confirm that you want to close your account.
A business account with ad spend has one more step first: If you have outstanding bills on a business account, you’ll need to remove your payment information to clear them before deleting your account. Any outstanding balance that has not been settled will be charged to the card that was on file when the spend occurred.
Can you get a deleted Pinterest account back?
For 7 days, and only with the account's email (Reactivate your account): If you permanently closed your account, you have 7 days from the close date to reactivate it. After 7 days, the account and data are deleted and can’t be recovered.
You need access to the email on your Pinterest account to reactivate. If you don't have access to this email, you can create a new account instead.
In California the rule differs: If you permanently closed your account and you're based in California, you'll need to contact us to reactivate your account.
How to check that your account is deactivated
Don't log in to look; that undoes it. Pinterest says: To make sure your account is no longer active, go to your profile URL by visiting www.pinterest.com/ followed by your username. Do not log in to check if your account is still active as this will reactivate your account.
Coming back is as simple: In most cases, all you need to do to reactivate your account is log in.
When Pinterest closed it, not you
Two different locks, two answers. If we notice any strange activity on your Pinterest account, we'll send you an email, reset your password, and log everyone out (including you). To reactivate your protected account, reset your password.

A family member's account
We're sorry for your loss. We can delete a deceased family member's account if you get in touch with us and provide verification, like an obituary or death certificate. Once we delete the account, it will not be accessible anymore. Because we want to respect the privacy of people on Pinterest, we cannot give out any personal or login information.
