Quick answer: Pinterest lets you delete one message at a time: on a computer, the ellipsis icon next to the message, then Delete; on a phone, press and hold the message, then Delete. There is no step to delete a whole conversation. Instead you hide it from your inbox, from the ellipsis icon at the top right of the conversation. Pinterest’s help doesn’t say whether a deleted message disappears for the other person. To stop someone messaging you, block them. The tool above gives Pinterest’s steps for each on your device.
How to delete a message on Pinterest
Pinterest’s View updates, send messages and add replies gives deleting one sentence: To delete a message, on desktop, tap the ellipsis icon next to the message and select Delete. On mobile, press and hold the message, then tap Delete.
Your messages open from the messages icon, the speech bubble with three dots (Pinterest’s steps call it the “dialog-ellipsis” icon). It’s at the bottom of the screen in the apps.
Can you delete a whole conversation?
Pinterest’s help has no step for it. What it offers for a whole conversation is Hide conversation. Open the conversation, tap the ellipsis icon at its top right and select Hide conversation. On the web you reach it through Messages on the sidebar. On Android it’s Messages at the top right, and on an iPhone or iPad it’s the messages icon at the bottom.
Does the other person still see it?
Pinterest’s help doesn’t say, for deleting or for hiding. It never says a deleted message is removed from the other person’s side, and it never says whether they’re told you hid the conversation. Several pages that rank for this question say one or the other, but none of them quote Pinterest. What Pinterest’s words do show is that hiding is about your inbox. A hidden conversation comes back to it when you write to them again. If you need someone to stop seeing your profile, see the Pinterest Privacy Checker.
How to unhide a conversation
To unhide a conversation, visit the individual’s profile and select Message. Send a new message, and the conversation will reappear in your inbox.
There is no list of hidden conversations in Pinterest’s help. Writing to them again is the way back.
Stop someone messaging you
Hiding or deleting doesn’t stop new messages. Blocking does: Block a Pinterest profile to prevent someone from following you, messaging you, or interacting with your Pins.
And No one will ever receive a notification that you've blocked or unblocked them. They'll only be alerted if they try to follow you or interact with your Pins.
For groups of people rather than one person, Pinterest’s message settings let you choose Inbox, Requests or Don’t deliver. Each choice is set for followers, collaborators and people you follow. If you're a teen, you'll have limited options for how you send and receive messages.
The Block, Unblock, Unfollow or Report tool has the rest of what blocking does.
Report a conversation
From Report something on Pinterest, open the conversation, tap the ellipsis icon at its top right and pick a reason. Reporting doesn’t hide anyone: If you find content that shouldn't be on Pinterest, you can report it for us to review. You’ll still be able to see someone’s account, boards, Pins and comments after you report them. To see less of their content, you can unfollow or block this person.
