Quick answer: Pinterest has no button that resets your home feed. Its help says the feed is picked from the boards you create, the Pins you engage with, the things you search for and the people and boards you follow, so to reset it you change those: clear your Recent searches (click into the search bar, then the clear icon), turn off Activity under Refine your recommendations, and Unfollow what you no longer want. Ads are separate; they follow Use of partner info under Privacy and data. The tool above gives Pinterest's steps for whatever you want gone, on your device.

What picks the Pins in your Pinterest home feed

Pinterest's help (Explore the home feed) names the signals in one sentence: Your Home feed is a feed of Pins that have been picked for you based on the boards you create, Pins you engage with, and things you search for on Pinterest. The people you follow are the rest of it: Browse your Home feed to discover Pins from people and boards you follow. You'll also find recommendations for Pins you might love and new people or brands to follow inspired by your recent activity. Its settings page puts it shorter still (Refine your recommendations): Pinterest recommends Pins to you based on your saves, searches, and browsing activity.

How to reset your Pinterest feed

Pinterest's help doesn't name a reset button, so a reset is three settings, one for each thing it says picks your Pins:

  • What you searched: Remove items you've recently searched from your search history. (Clear recent search history)
  • What you engaged with: Activity: Turn off recommendations based on Pins you have engaged with.
  • Who you follow: You can remove followers and unfollow people. If you want to prevent someone from following or interacting with you on Pinterest, you can also block them. (Manage your following and followers)

The boards you create are the fourth signal, and Pinterest's help names no setting for them. A board you no longer want can be archived or deleted (the Delete, Archive or Merge a Board tool has Pinterest's steps). Pinterest does not say whether that changes the feed.

Fewer AI-made Pins

The same settings page has a second tab: AI content: Choose to see fewer GenAI Pins in certain categories in your feed. Use the Show AI content toggle to reduce AI content in your feed. If you turn this toggle off, all AI topics will be turned off.

Why the ads don't change

Turning on or off recommendations won’t affect the ads you see on your home feed. You can limit the information Pinterest uses to pick which ads you see. That limit is Use of partner info (Personalized ads on Pinterest): To help you see ads you’re more likely to be interested in, Pinterest or a company advertising on Pinterest may use information about your off-Pinterest activity to personalize the ads you see. Please note that this setting does not apply to information about purchases you initiate on Pinterest.

Ideas from your private boards

Some of what you see comes from boards nobody else can see (Private boards): On your home feed you may see suggestions for Pins based on your private boards. These are only visible to you and can be used for inspiration to find more ideas. You must have at least one private board for these suggested pins to appear.

If you pin for a business

Read Pinterest's sentence the other way round and it lists what your own Pins are matched against: the boards people create, the Pins they engage with, and the things they search for. The searches are the part you can look up before you pin; the Keyword Checker shows a keyword's demand on Pinterest.

FAQ

Can I reset my Pinterest feed completely?
Pinterest's help names no single reset. Clearing recent searches, turning off Activity and unfollowing change the three things it says pick your Pins; the tool above has the steps for all three at once.
Does clearing my search history change my home feed?
Pinterest names the things you search for as one of the signals that pick your home feed. It does not say how quickly a cleared search stops counting.
Why do I see Pins from people I don't follow?
Pinterest adds recommendations: These are Pins that we recommend based on the people you follow, boards you create, Pins you engage with, and things you search for on Pinterest.
Does hiding a Pin change my feed?
That is what it is for: You can hide individual Pins to help Pinterest understand the type of Pins you want to see. The Delete, Unsave or Hide a Pin tool covers the other things you can do with a Pin.
How do I stop seeing one account's Pins?
Block it: If you block someone, their Pins will no longer show up in your home feed, but you might still see them in search results and group boards. No one will ever receive a notification that you've blocked or unblocked them.
