Quick answer: Forgot your Pinterest password? Go to Pinterest’s password reset page (pinterest.com/password/reset). Search your email, name or username, choose your account, and use the link Pinterest emails you. You need the email address on the account. If you can’t reach it and never set up Google or Apple login, Pinterest says it can’t give you access. Then the only way on is a new account. Locked out by a two-factor code, Pinterest says to contact it. Pins and boards gone after a new phone? You may simply be in a second account. The tool above gives Pinterest’s steps for each on your device.
Reset a forgotten password
From Reset or change your password, the reset page finds your account by email, name or username and emails a reset link. Three things Pinterest warns about: To keep your account safe, we don't allow you to reuse any recently used passwords.
If your password reset link isn't working in your regular browser, try resetting it in a private Chrome, Firefox or Safari window.
And If you no longer have access to the email address linked to your Pinterest account, you won’t be able to reset your password. If this happens, you can create a new account and save your public Pins from your old account to your new one.
Change your password when you’re signed in
If you forget your password, you can request to reset it. If you’re already logged into your Pinterest account, you can change your password from your settings.
On the web it is Settings › Account management › Password, Change. In the apps it is Account management › Password. Either way you type your old password first.
You don’t know, or can’t reach, the email
From Troubleshoot issues logging in with an email address: You can get a hint to the email address on your account by going to pinterest.com/password/reset and searching for your name or username.
If the email is old, Google or Apple can still get you in, but only if it was set up before: If you don't have access to your email address and you haven't set up a Google or Apple log in, we can’t verify that the account belongs to you. For security reasons, this means we can’t give you access to this account.
Pinterest also lists the typos it sees most, such as .con for .com, or @yahoo.com for @ymail.com. For security reasons, our support team may be limited in helping with email typo issues when the typo is in the part after the @.
Google or Apple login doesn’t work
If you’re having trouble logging in to Pinterest with Google or Apple, check the settings in those accounts to make sure Pinterest is connected.
Two limits from Log in and out of Pinterest: Facebook login is no longer available.
And Apple login is only available on iOS
.
“We protected your account”
From We protected your account: If we notice any strange activity on your Pinterest account, we'll send you an email, reset your password, and log everyone out (including you).
Strange activity includes things like logins from unusual locations, many logins within a short period of time, or spammy behavior.
The way back: To get back on Pinterest, reset your password. Or, if your account's connected to Google and you've logged in that way before, log in with Google.
Once you’re in, Pinterest suggests two-factor authentication, connecting Google, an up-to-date email and a password you use nowhere else.
Two-factor authentication
If you’re having trouble logging in because of two-factor authentication, or if you need to update the phone number linked to your account, please contact us for help.
Pinterest’s help gives no other way past a missing code. Two more things it says: To set up two-factor authentication, you'll need to provide your phone number so we can text you a code to log in. You can only link a phone number to one account.
And 2FA is not available in all regions yet.
Your Pins and boards are gone
From Accidentally created a second account: If you recently logged into Pinterest and your Pins and boards are missing, or your Pinterest account suddenly looks different, you may have accidentally created a second account.
Log out, find your original account on the reset page, and reset its password from the email. The accidental one can then be deactivated: If you created a new account with an email address, you can deactivate the account.
“Your login was blocked”
That is Pinterest’s spam limit, not your password: We set limits to keep spam out, but sometimes these may impact people on Pinterest unintentionally. If you get an error message that your login was blocked or you can't save a Pin because of suspicious activity, we may have blocked activity from your IP address or your area. Wait thirty minutes before trying to log in or save Pins again. Most limits are removed automatically.
If Pinterest itself is having problems, the Pinterest Not Working? tool links its status page. A suspended account is different: the Pinterest Account Suspended tool has Pinterest’s appeal.
